Using a Dump Station

While most of you think that getting rid of waste is not the most pleasant thing about a Motorhome holiday, it is in fact very easy to take care of this necessary job. To get rid of waste water, you can find dump stations throughout NZ and at most campgrounds. Anywhere you see a sign of a Motorhome with an arrow underneath it you can simply pull up along side, attach the hose and release the waste into the station. There will also be facilities there so you can empty your toilet cassette. If you have been treating the waste correctly there should be no smell. Release the cassette from its locker and swing the cassette spout out, take off the cap and empty it. Most stations will have a hose you can rinse the cassette out with, then slide it back into its locker and add your waste treatment. Unhook the waste water hose and stow before you head off.

Children on Board

For a young family a motorhome holiday is an easy way to travel. With your home on your back you can attend to your child’s needs wherever you are. Our motorhomes are equipped to carry approved car seats which all children under the age of 7 must be seated in. We have 3 different types available depending on the age of your child. For those busy toddlers who can’t sit still, you can hire a highchair with tray to make meal times a little easier. Portable travel cots designed especially to fit in the motorhome are also available so that baby can sleep safely in their own bed. And if your littlies want to have an adventure sleeping up above the cab (think castle, cave, fort and all round great hiding place) then the safety net that fits across the front will make sure that they too sleep safe and sound. For parents who like to get out and about on a bike then why not fit a carrier seat for your child so you all see the amazing scenery New Zealand has to offer. You can find all these items for hire from Coastal Campers, the family friendly motorhome rental team.

Latest Winter Camping Trip

Our latest family winter camping trip has taken us just down the road, to one of our all time favourite spots on the Coromandel Peninsula....Hahei.
Here we always choose a hilltop camp site at the campground which looks out over the ocean and islands. This time we tried out the bike racks we have available for hire and took our bikes for a leisurely ride around the quiet streets and lanes. The days were sunny and crisp and the LPG heater inside the motorhome kept us all warm at night. If you have a favourite spot that you always head to when you go camping, we'd love to hear about it.
